Song to the Psyren is an experimental photo series built on Intentional Camera Movement (ICM). Shot at night, above the water, with a handheld phone camera moved deliberately during long exposure. Every gesture becomes a smear of gold light against near-black water; the technique, not retouching, is what pushes the images toward paint.

The reference points are pictorial rather than photographic: Goya's late, dark-toned figures and the mythic, half-submerged women of Franz von Stuck. What results is a swimmer half-dissolved into light and darkness, closer to memory than to documentation: partial, warm, degraded at the edges.

The series sits alongside Luca Birindelli's other multimedia and experimental film work, extending the same interest in distortion, mythology and altered states of the image into still photography.
